Turkish police have shot two attackers outside Istanbul's police headquarters, killing one of them, local media reports have said.
Two officers were also reportedly injured in the exchange of fire on Wednesday.
Footage on the website of the Dogan news agency showed one person lying on the ground as police vehicles sealed off the street in the Aksaray neighbourhood of central Istanbul.
Reports said that the attacker killed was a woman, while a wounded male was captured by the police.
The attack comes a day after two armed men belonging a leftist group took an Istanbul prosecutor hostage in his office.
All three died late on Tuesday after police special forces stormed the building in an effort to release him.
The prosecutor also died of his wounds shortly after the operation.
Separately, police detained an armed man on Wednesday who entered a suburban Istanbul office of the ruling AK party and hung a Turkish flag with the emblem of a sword added to it from its window.
