Angel Di Maria‘s struggles at Manchester United have been well documented, as the most expensive player in Premier League history has had a debut season to forget at Old Trafford.
Now, as reported by various media outlets in the UK including the Daily Mirror, Di Maria could be handed the chance to escape his United nightmare and head to Paris Saint-Germain.
According to reports, PSG is offering $88 million for Di Maria, roughly the same amount United paid Real Madrid for the Argentina winger last summer, and after lackluster performances, his family struggling to settle and issues such as his house in Manchester being burgled, maybe Di Maria is ready to move on.
His form of late has been much better (apart from his red card against Arsenal in an FA Cup quarterfinal last month) but with just three goals and nine assists in 21 PL games this season, Di Maria certainly hasn’t lived up to the hype which saw him shine for Argentina during last summer’s World Cup and become a key component in Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League title last season.
Recently Louis van Gaal spoke of how he has given Di Maria extra days off to acclimatize to life in England and it’s fair to say that fans, players and staff at United are willing the tricky to succeed at the Theatre of Dreams. However if these reports of PSG offering the exact same amount that United paid for Di Maria back in August 2014 are true, it will be extremely tempting for the Red Devils to cut their losses and move on.
