Pope Francis says he has not watched television for 25 years and he relies on a Swiss Guard to keep him informed of football results.

Pope Francis recently revealed that he has not watched television since July 15, 1990
“I have not watched TV since 1990,” the Buenos Aires-born Pope told Argentinian newspaper La Voz del Pueblo.

The pontiff did not reveal the last program he watched or why he gave up the boob tube, except to say he decided "no es para mi" (it's not for me), before promising the Virgin Mary he wouldn't watch again.

His time is spent working, the 78-year-old said. “I am under pressure. All those in government are under pressure,” he said.
Asked if there was a specific reason why he doesn't watch television, he responded: "I told myself, 'It's not for me'."

Pope Francis is known to be a football fan, but he said he does not watch matches of his favourite team, San Lorenzo, and relies on a Swiss Guard to tell him the results and the tables.
An avid soccer fan, Pope Francis even skips out on the big games, getting the scores from a Swiss Guard instead of the small screen.
“There is a Swiss Guard that every week tells me the results and how we are doing in the league table,” he said.
The pontiff doesn’t surf the Internet either — and only reads one newspaper, La Repubblica, for about 10 minutes every day.

The Pope, 78, said he reads one newspaper a day, La Repubblica, a left-leaning Italian daily.

Among the things he misses about life before he was elected to the Pontificate is going out for pizza.

He said having a pizza delivered to the Vatican is "not the same", adding: "The point is to go there."
