Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Will Feature NFL's Marshawn Lynch from the Seattle Seahawks.

Seattle Seahawks superstar Marshawn Lynch will appear in Call of Duty: Black Ops III, becoming the first athlete in the series.

As competitive as they are, he won’t be the last. Notorious for his efforts to avoid postgame interviews, Lynch might seem like an odd choice.

The news comes by way of ESPN The Magazine, which, for the first time, is running a competitive gaming edition called "The eSports Issue" this month. It will feature a story called "The Whole Game is Beast Mode" written by Sam Alipour about how Lynch got involved with the game.

But in the June 22 issue of ESPN The Magazine, Beast Mode explains that his passion for COD goes all the way back to his college days at Cal.

He said the teamwork needed to win at the shooter is a lot like what happens in football.

You’re trying to have a good game personally, but keeping the team’s larger goals in mind.
Although celebrities have lent their voices and likenesses to Call of Duty games before, Lynch will become the first athlete to appear in the franchise.

We followed up with Activision for more details and were told a further announcement regarding Lynch's involvement with Black Ops III will be made soon.

ESPN The Magazine's gaming edition will also contain a feature about YouTube gaming star PewDiePie, a profile of South Korean gaming prodigy "Faker," and a story about why one woman refuses to abandon video games in the wake of increased harassment.

Black Ops 3, from what we know so far, puts a heavy emphasis on cybernetics and human enhancement, which play a large role in the story and gameplay alike. This is portrayed in the ESPN cover, with the athlete sporting a mechnically enhanced arm. Lynch will portray his own character in Black Ops 3 when it launches this November, which he thinks is an even bigger sign that he's "arrived" than anything else.

Also featured in the issue are accounts from NBA star Kevin Durant and the NFL's Patrick Peterson about why they love video games so much.

Black Ops III launches on November 6 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
